Hamlet II: exit ghost tar sig an Shakespeares klassiska text från flera olika håll. Föreställningen undersöker de tankar, motiv och metaforer i texten, som handlar om minne och tvivel. Den gestaltar den tvekan och handlingsförlamning som Hamlet känner inför det våld han ombeds utföra och som Ofelia tvingas till av rådande omständigheter.
Texten är en helt ny bearbetning av Shakespeares klassiker och egentligen inte, som titeln antyder, en uppföljare utan ett sätt att undersöka några av Shakespeares odödliga retoriska figurer och två unga människors öde. Föreställningen är också ett sätt att försöka närma sig ett av världslitteraturens stora verk genom att arbeta med några utvalda tankar och bilder och genom att göra den pjäs som beskrivs i verket, till själva formen för undersökandet.
De två skådespelarna på scenen spelar rollerna som Hamlet och Ofelia, men förvandlas till Gertrud och Polonius när det krävs för att berätta historien. Det hela blir en lek med identiteter, vilket sätter Hamlets och Ophelias galenskap och ständiga tvivel i fokus. Förutom de två skådespelarna ser vi även Jörgen Dahlqvist, video och live redigering, samt kompositören Kent Olofsson, ljud och liveelektronik, på scenen.
Genom dessa tre element; skådespelarna, musiken och videoprojektionerna försöker föreställningen öppna upp den klassiska texten på ett nytt sätt.
För denna föreställning samt för A language at war nominerades Jörgen Dahlqvist till Svenska Teaterkritikers Förenings Teaterpris 2011. Motiveringen löd:
I dessa pjäser och uppsättningar undersöker Dahlqvist kontaktytor mellan ord, bild, ljud, musik och rum, som öppnar mångfaldiga perspektiv på relationen mellan språk, existens, minne, identitet och teater. Dahlqvist är en auteur som upptäcker scenens grammatik samtidigt som han spelar med den.

Hamlet II:exit ghost is a performance that examines the classical text of Shakespeare in different ways. It’s a artistic approach that investigates thoughts, motifs and metaphors in the text, trying to deal with memory and doubt. It portrays the doubts and the paralysis that Hamlet feels about the violence that he is asked to perform and that Ofelia is forced to by circumstances. It’s a performance about identity and memory.
The text is a completely new adaption of Shakespeare’s classic and not, as the title suggests, a sequel but rather a way to examine some of Shakespeare’s immortal rhetorical figures, and the fate of two young people. The show is also a way to try to approach one of world literature’s great works by working with some selected thoughts and images and by making the play described in the play, the very form of the investigation.
The two actors on the stage play the roles of Hamlet and Ophelia but transform into Gertrude and Polonius when they need to, in order to tell the story. It becomes a game with identity between the two, making the doubt and madness of Hamlet and Ophelia the center of the performance. Apart from the two actors, we also see Jörgen Dahlqvist, video and live editing, and composer Kent Olofsson, sound and live electronics, on stage.
Through these three elements; acting, music and video, the performance tries to open up the classic text in new ways.
For this performance Jörgen Dahlqvist was nominated for Svenska Teaterkritikers Förenings Teaterpris 2011 (Swedish Theatre Critics Association’s Theatre Prize 2011). He was also nominated for A Language at War; also played at the festival, read more about it here.
