I samtidskonstnärerna Lundahl & Seitls verk Symphony of a Missing Room guidas publiken runt i Göteborgs konstmuseum genom instruktioner i hörlurar och ledsagares händer. Publiken deltar aktivt i verket som orkestrerar besökarens upplevelser och perceptioner under verkets framförande.
Symphony of a Missing Room styr uppmärksamheten bort från det visuella och mot medvetandet självt. En gest som kan jämföras med att titta direkt mot ljuset från en projektor, istället för att titta på bilden som projiceras på en yta.
Besökaren följer instruktioner och blir verkets huvudperson genom att öppna olika ljudrum där relationen mellan subjekt och objekt smälter samman och osäkrar förhållandet mellan mening och meningsskapare, betraktare och betraktad.

Göteborgs konstmuseum is the chosen location of a new immersive and participatory project by contemporary artist duo Lundahl & Seitl. The audience is guided through a room by following instructions from voices in the headphones
they are wearing and the hands of a personal guide.
Symphony of a Missing Room orchestrates and ultimately produces the visitors’ perception and immediate reality
within the duration of the work. Symphony of a Missing Room steers our attention away from the visible and makes us turn our gaze towards consciousness itself, a gesture which may be imagined and compared to the act of gazing directly towards the light of a projector instead of the image it creates on the projected surface.
Following the instructions, the viewer becomes the prime medium of unfolding the work into a polyphonic space in which subject and object relations converge to a complex unstable relationship between the signifier and the signified, observer and the observed.
