OPEN LAB
I nära samarbete med konstskolan DasArts är vi glada att presentera 2012 års version av Open Lab. Tillsammans med Berlin Biennale och KunstenFESTIVALdesarts är Göteborgs Dans & Teater Festival värdar för tre veckors intensiva labb för konstnärer inom performativ praktik.
Under tre veckor i maj 2012 kommer 30 konstnärer ges möjlighet att ta del av idéer, nätverk och konstnärliga program i antingen Berlin, Bryssel eller Göteborg.
Berlin är först ut och mot bakgrund av Berlin Biennale undersöks både biennalens och den egna konsten med en politisk blick. Florian Malzacher, co-programmatör för festivalen steirischer herbst i Graz, är Berlin-labbets guide.
I Bryssel är kontexten KunstenFESTIVALdesarts och den konstnärliga praktiken. I fokus står de konkreta förutsättningarna för det konstnärliga arbetet. Siegmar Zacharias, konstnär och retoriker, guidar gruppen genom olika teorier och manifestationer av konstnärlig praktik.
I Göteborg är temat Feedback – the art of giving and receiving. Hur skapas förutsättningar för att lära av andras tankar kring det egna arbetet? Karim Benammar, filosof med inriktning på tanketekniker, leder gruppen, som tillsammans med några utvalda konstnärer från festivalens föreställningar kommer att undersöka sitt konstnärskap genom metoder i kreativ feedback. Med åtta specifika metoder kommer feedback att ges och tas emot på allt ifrån konceptuella idéer, work-in-progress till färdiga föreställningar.

FÖRDJUPNING
Bakom och omkring de föreställningar som utgör festivalen finns en väv av idéer och teman som har ett eget liv. Tankar som varit ursprung till verken och tankar som väcks hos publiken som ser dem. Att skapa fördjupning i form av samtal och workshops med de konstnärer som gästar festivalen, konstnärer baserade i norden, studenter och publik, är ett av de viktigaste målen med festivalen.
Studenter från nordiska konstnärliga utbildningar och den intresserade scenkonstbranschen och publiken har möjlighet att ta del av labbet i Göteborg. Redan innan festivalen i maj kan man även ta del av de samtal och fördjupningsseminarier som arrangeras under vårterminen, då utvalda konstnärskap och föreställningsteman kommer att belysas.
Open Lab 2012
In close cooperation with DasArts, Master course at the Amsterdam School of Arts, we are thrilled to present the 2012 version of the Open Lab. Together with Berlin Biennale and Kunstenfestivaldesarts the Göteborgs Dans & Teater Festival will host three weeks of intense working visits for performative artists.
During three weeks in May 2012, 30 artists will take part of ideas, networks and artistic programs in Berlin, Brussels or Göteborg.
First out is Berlin and with context of the Berlin Biennale the relationship between art and politics is thoroughly examined. What is our job as artists, curators, art workers in a rapidly changing world? Florian Malzacher, co-programmer for steirischer herbst in Graz, will guide participants through the art work of the biennale as well as the participants own work.
In Brussels with the context of KunstenFESTIVALdesarts we focus on the artistic practice. What is its implicit relationship between product, process and practice? The guide, Siegmar Zacharias, is a performance artist and co-founder of the trans-disciplinary performance group SXS Enterprise and WOW-we work here – a professional research and exchange network for performance art practitioners in Berlin.
In Göteborg the theme is Feedback – the art of giving and receiving. It is great if feedback can become a gift, not only for the one who receives, but for everybody present. How can the responses to one particular presentation potentially be a group learning experience?
Karim Benammar, a philosopher specialized in Thinking Techniques and the Philosophy of Abundance, guides this group to feedback on anything from a finished piece, a work-in-progress, or a conceptual idea. 8 different methods for feedback will be introduced and applied in a highly structured format.
Elaborations
Behind and around the performances that constitutes the festival, there is a wide net of ideas and themes with a life of its own. Thoughts, once origins for the performances and thoughts aroused in the audience that just watched. To elaborate on these thoughts through talks and workshops with the visiting artists, local artists, students and audiences is one of the primary benefits of the festival.
Students from Nordic artistic educations as well as professionals and audience can take part of the working visit in Göteborg. Even before the festival, there will be a number of seminars and elaborative talks, focused on selected artists and themes. More info on this is coming soon.
